BBQ chicken wings with pineapple and chili glaze

BBQ chicken wings with a pineapple and chilli glaze combine the sweetness of pineapple with the spiciness of chilli to create a tasty barbecue dish. Served with an aromatic Gewürztraminer from South Tyrol, the result is a harmonious combination of food and wine that is perfect for summer BBQ evenings.

Cooking utensils

  • 1 Grill or oven
  • 1 Barbecue tongs
  • 1 Bowl for marinating
  • 1 Baking tray (for preparation in the oven)

Ingredients
  

  • 8 Chicken wings
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the pineapple and chili glaze:

  • 150 g Pineapple pieces Fresh or canned
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes or fresh chopped chili
  • 1 Garlic clove finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Juice of one lime

Preparation
 

Marinate:

  • Mix the chicken wings with the oil, salt and pepper in a bowl and leave to marinate for approx. 30 minutes.

Prepare the glaze:

  • Puree the pineapple pieces and mix with the honey, soy sauce, chili flakes, garlic, ginger and lime juice in a pan.
  • Bring the mixture to the boil briefly and then leave to cool.

Barbecue:

  • Preheat the grill and grill the chicken wings over a medium heat for approx. 20 minutes, turning regularly.
  • In the last 5 minutes, brush the wings with the pineapple and chilli glaze and allow to caramelize.

  • Crispy sweet potato fries
